DESCRIPTION
The U002 is a compact, 24 VDC loop-powered switch that uses ultrasonic technology for liquid level measurements. The U002 features a stainless steel tip-sensitive transducer for use in high or low level applications.
The compact electronics are integral to the transducer and are housed in a 4 long section. With a 1 transducer, the entire switch weighs just a pound and is 5.25 long. This makes the U002 an excellent choice for applications where there are height or clearance restrictions.
In operation a high frequency, ultrasonic signal is transmitted across the sensor gap. When it is filled with liquid, this signal is detected by the internal circuit that establishes a loop current draw of 16 mA. The ultrasonic signal is attenuated by the air, when the sensor is dry, and the circuit switches the loop current to 8 mA. The switch output can be field configured as a relay or current output.
